Decent film, not great
Added 9/16/2009
Geena Davis does a good job playing both personalities, and Sam "The Man" Jackson is great as Henessey, but the plot cliches take it down a couple notches.
Side note: Why does Amazon's review loathe the film, yet list it as "Essential Viewing"?

There hasn't been a review on this movie for a long time. That said you can see the movie description for the plot synopsis, I just want to add that this is an outstanding movie! One of my top 10 movies of all time! Geena Davis is awesome! A great action-comedy movie. I highly recommend you watch/own this movie.

What we need is a Special Edition . . .
Added 4/21/2009
This is one of the better action-comedy films of this decade. It has slick black humor and TONS of action. Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson make a fine duo, and they certainly kick a hell of a lot of @$$ in this movie. Expect a lot of heavy violence and some witty dialogue when watching this film.
However, I do believe that a Special Edition of The Long Kiss Goodnight is way overdue. There should be a brand-new digital transfer, with audio commentaries by the director and actors. A behind-the-scenes featurette would be nice, along with deleted scenes, bloopers, etc. It's 2009, and this recent DVD was released back in 1997. Don't you think it's time for a serious upgrade?
Anyway, great movie.

"I let you touch me once, cowboy. thought i need a bath" ..

An amazing scene and an amazing dialog as well, my punum froze when i heard that delivered in a way only geena davis could pull off.
The Long Kiss Goodnight stars Geena Davis as Charlene Elizabeth Baltimore, a government assassin who loses her memory during a botched attempt and resurfaces 9 years later when trying to discover her past.
Samuel L. Jackson is a PI who helps her investigate her past life. Its one of those movies that really define the 90s for me, was and still is my all time favorite. Never get tired of it.
I'd say Geena Davis was superlative in this movie and her transformation especially when she is being tortured from the nice school teacher to the ruthless spy speaks volumes of her acting prowess.
A highly entertaining action flick that has been in my collection and if by some chance you have not seen this marvellous film, i would definitely recommend you check it out at the earliest.
5 Stars, a keeper.

One of my Faves

Geena is a favorite actress, and she does a memorable job in this modern fantasy,as does Samuel. She appears consistant, and valid, throughout her transformation from amnesia. Yummy, too!
