Plot: The can't-miss teaming of Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn is squandered on a clumsy, illogical romantic melodrama. Running across her old boyfriend Gibson at a Wisconsin gas station, Hawn is astounded that he seems not to recognize her. How could she have known that Gibson was put into the Witness Relocation Program after testifying against a homicidal mob boss (say, don't they usually alter your appearance when they put you in that program?) Curious over Gibson's furtive behavior, Hawn unknowingly sets herself up as a target for the bad guys. The whole affairs culminates in an after-hours showdown at a zoo (a plot device vastly improved upon in the 1996 Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle Eraser). While Bird on a Wire admittedly has its moments of enjoyment, most of the film is on a par with Gibson's embarrassing, homophobic scene with a pair of epicine hairdressers. And whoever heard of the Chinatown section of Racine, Wisconsin? ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The movie itself is a little weird because you get this girl who is still obsessed with an old lover and stares at his photos and than poof he is back in her life, he tries to make it look like he is someone else but she comes back later to find two men trying to kill him. She helps him not knowing where he went or why he didn't come back to find her... but eventually it all makes sense... a movie about love and betrayl.

Won't you want the father of your sons becomes meat for tiger, do you?

"Bird on a wire" gathers two emblematic actors, the always alluring and sympathetic golden beauty, Mrs. Goldie Hawn, with this human hurricane, the always restless Mel Gibson.

A delightful sexy-comedy-thriller where Gibson reencounters with his beloved sweetheart, after he has been sheltered by the F.B.I. into the well known witness relocation program. With a new identity, the strings of destiny will make he faces against the bad guys he sent to prison and at the same time she accidentally finds him.

So, this expected relationship will be spiced with the accustomed doses of hair raising chase sequences and that surrealistic stage at the end of the film.

Entertained but easy to forget. A bubble gum movie.

Fun romantic comedy-chase thriller
Added 8/11/2008

Beats me why so many people want to trash this action-packed screwball romantic comedy-chase thriller(especially at IMDb.com). Instead of comparing it to other Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn films, I compare it to other basically similar type films, such as "What's up Doc?", "Smokey and the Bandit", "High Road to China, "The Big Steal"(perhaps the granddaddy of this type of film), and, more recently, some of the Jackie Chan films.
The stunts have gotten much wilder and more numerous in recent decades, including this film. I love both Goldie Hawn and Mel Gibson as actors and to have them together in this type of film is just great.

Goldie as delightful as ever

It is nice to watch these brilliant actors having fun in front of the camera in pleasant surroundings, supported by a good team of performers. Goldie Hawn is funny and her smile priceless. Although a fine comedienne, Goldie draws heavily on her spectacular legs and posterior in this movie. Fully aware of her features, she doesn't hesitate making the most of them. However, the story is, as usual in this kind of movies, rather impossible and quite unbelievable, so the content of Goldie's wranglers not only support her, but the whole movie as well. Watching it is one way getting in good mood without overloading the brain activity.

A lovely, feel good movie

This is such a charming movie. Goldie Hawn the scammer and straight laced Steve Martin make an enjoyable on-screen couple. I have seen this movie dozens of times and I have not tired of the storyline or the scenery. Pop the popcorn and settle in! This light, fun film will not disappoint.
