Plot: You've got to ask yourself a question: 'do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk? Dirty Harry provoked a critical uproar in 1971 for its fascist message about the power of one, as it also elevated Clint Eastwood to superstar status through his most enduring screen persona. Harry Callahan (Eastwood, in a role meant for Frank Sinatra) is a sardonic, hard-working San Francisco cop who can't finish his lunch without having to foil a bank robbery with his 44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world. When hippie-esque psycho Scorpio (Andy Robinson) goes on a killing spree, Harry and new partner Chico (Reni Santoni) are assigned to hunt him down, but not before the Mayor (John Vernon) and Lt. Bressler (Harry Guardino) admonish Callahan about his heavy-handed tactics. Racing against a deadline to save a kidnap victim from suffocating to death and unbothered by the niceties of Miranda rights and search warrants, Callahan brings in Scorpio, only to see him released on technicalities. The law's crazy, opines Harry in disgust, before taking it upon himself to ensure that Scorpio doesn't kill again. Directed in violent and efficient fashion by Don Siegel, with a propulsive score by Lalo Schifrin, Dirty Harry was the fourth Siegel-Eastwood collaboration after Coogan's Bluff (1968), Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970), and The Beguiled (1970). Critics at the time strongly objected to the heroic image of a cop's violations of a suspect's Miranda rights, forcing Siegel and Eastwood to deny that they were right-wing reactionaries. All the same, Dirty Harry proved to be highly popular and spawned four sequels: Magnum Force (1973), The Enforcer (1976), Sudden Impact (1983), and The Dead Pool (1988). ~ Lucia Bozzola, All Movie Guide

My wife and I love Dirty Harry. I gave her this collector's edition as a gift. She especially liked the badge.

Dirty Harry
Added 10/9/2009

It's great to have all the Dirty Harry movies, but the extra stuff that comes with it is really kinda cheesy and unnecessary.

Dirty Harry DVD'S
Added 9/17/2009

I was very impressed with the quality of the DVD'S. The way that they were in their individual cases was very good. All of the extra information both on DVD and the written booklets was very informative and interesting. They rivaled any that you would purchase individually at a retail store.

Dirty Harry Ultimate Collectors Edition.
Added 9/12/2009

I had seen these movies when they came out and was excited to find them in a collection. The collection is the movies that Clint Eastwood stared in that all fit together and were almost a continuation of each other. It is a real plus to add them to my DVD collection. My 12 year old nephew is really into Clint Eastwood movies and he was thrilled to have me get them and has really enjoyed them. [For me they are kind of violent, but they are definitely the movies he was in at that time.} Dirty Harry is extra special to me as my childhood was spent in Marin County, where it was filmed, so it was exciting to see & know the old sites.

Excellent Box
Added 9/10/2009

A must-have for every "early" Clint Eastwood Fan. Picture and sound quality are excellent, especially when you consider the age of the first 2 productions. One of the best blu-ray boxes available on the market. The extras: a 40 page booklet; a wallet with metal badge, Lobby Poster Cards and much more. Also a documentary about Clint Eastwood. A great product which I really do enjoy. Also interesting for european customers since the blu-rays will play without any problems on all european players.

What can one say about Dirty Harry that every pinko commie liberal democrat bleeding heart hasn't cried about in the last 30-plus years? He's grumpy, he's casually racist, he eats nothing but hot dogs and speaks mostly through his gun. But we all love him for it, consarnit.

And what's with all these over-sized boxed sets that don't justify their bulk? There are five discs in this thing, and they only take up maybe a 1/4th of the case! The rest of it is filled with this "BONUS" malarkey, like a letter from Clint Eastwood, production documents, poster replicas, and some gold bricking liberal's reproduction of Harry Calahan's badge!

You kids and your comprehensive boxed sets! Why back in my day, we had to walk fifteen miles in the snow, uphill both ways just to see a black and white picture of a movie at the back of the newspaper! And we were GRATEFUL!

This wouldn't be happening if Nixon was still in The White House!
