Plot: Set against the anti-war protests, rock & roll revolution, and mind-expanding psychedelia of the 1960s, Julie Taymor's hallucinogenic musical follows the arduous journey of star-crossed lovers Jude (Jim Sturgess) and Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood) as they and a small group of musicians are swept up in the raging waters of the volatile counterculture movement. Guided through their journey by a pair known only as Dr. Robert (Bono) and Mr. Kite (Eddie Izzard), Jude and Lucy are eventually forced to find their way back to one another after being split apart by powerful forces beyond their control. The music in the film consists exclusively of songs made popular by the Beatles during the time period depicted in the movie. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Nice And Entertaining!

First of all I'm not going to break this movie down to what it means, it's plot, it's historical value, or whatever. The thing is that it is a fun movie to watch. I truly liked the visuals, and the music scenes. I thought it was great on how the started doing "With a Little Help From my Friends" Beatles style, and finished it like the Joe Cocker version. Very clever. Musical scenes of "Let it Be", and "Strawberry Fields" were moving. While the scenes of "Why don't We Do it in The Road", and "Helter Skelter" just rocked! The absolute best song of this movie is "A Day in The Life" by Jeff Beck(studio version). You only hear a bit of it. I first hear the whole song on [...]. Now for those of you who hated this movie, or got offended by it like some reviewers did, first of all LIGHTENED UP a bit. I think it's awesome listening to Beatles tunes from a different perspective. It's just entertaining folks, don't take it so seriously!

Terrible

Terrible. This movie was TERRIBLE. If it was just a musical about the sixties, that would be one thing. But as someone who holds the music of The Beatles so dearly, I was appalled. Pretty much sums it up.

I LOVED it!!!

Just scanning a few of the reviews...they all said it very well. Bottom line, I am ready to buy the movie and also for good measure the soundtrack so I have options. It was creative, fun, and just when it got to be a bit much..they broke into a fab song..what more could you ask??

Awesome Movie
Added 10/5/2009

This movie is awesome, from the actors to the song choices and everything in between. I love the Beatles and most all of their songs and felt that using the songs to guide a story along just made sense. Although these songs can't replace the originals, some of them are almost just as good. Plus, adding blu-ray to this movie only adds to the quality.
