Plot: Following their television series Home Improvement and the features The Santa Clause (1994) and Jungle 2 Jungle (1997), the actor/director team of Tim Allen and John Pasquin collaborate once again on this high-concept comedy. Allen stars as Joe Scheffer, a nice guy video specialist for a Minneapolis pharmaceutical company who's plodding through both his thankless job and an unhappy divorce from his ex-wife Callie (Kelly Lynch). When Joe brings his daughter Natalie (Hayden Panettiere) to the office with him on Take Our Kids to Work Day, he's humiliated in a spat with company bully Mark McKinney (Patrick Warburton) over a parking space. It's the last straw for the mild-mannered Joe, who challenges McKinney to a rematch, hires a has-been action movie star (Jim Belushi) to instruct him in martial arts, and pays a stylist to make over his wardrobe and hair. As Joe's image improves and the big day approaches, he finds his new self-respecting stance has positive effects in both the workplace, as he lands a long-overdue promotion, and in his romantic life, as both Callie and a cute wellness coordinator (Julie Bowen) start warming up to him. The levelheaded Natalie, however, seems to prefer the previously non-confrontational dad she already loved. Joe Somebody (2001) is the feature debut of screenwriter John Scott Shepherd, who actually worked as a corporate filmmaker in Minneapolis. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

I have not received this product. It was due no later than 30 March 2009 and is now 9 days late. It has been a month since I ordered this product so I suppose it is not going to come. Have already paid for it with my VISA purchase.

I do not rank this as a place of business I would recommend to anyone.

A feelgood movie that is underrated
Added 2/14/2009

Most people have not heard of this movie, or would read it's professional reviews and skip it, which is a shame. You probably can figure out the whole storyline within the first few minutes, but the way they get to it is not exactly the way you think it will be. Tim Allen is GREAT in this, and I put that in capital letters for a reason. He plays this role exactly how it should be played, and he is not anywhere close to Tim the Tool Man Taylor like you may be thinking. Every role in this movie is played exactly as it should be, from the slimy boss to the has-been action star, the ex-wife who starts wondering why she left Joe to begin with, and the daughter who hides her talent so she doesn't stand out in the crowd. A great movie that everybody should at least give a chance.

The seller does an excellent job in refinishing the DVD, and you can't beat the price. It literally looked brand new.

OSCAR WINNER NO........ENJOYABLE ROMANTIC COMEDY....... YES!

You know, sometimes you just want to watch a movie that doesn't tax your brain. "Joe Somebody" is a good romantic comedy that has a message I'm sure we can all agree on "Be Yourself"! The cast seems to be enjoying themselves and that carries over on to the viewer. I don't think Tim Allen has ever been more likable and the romantic chemistry between him and quirky cutie Julie Bowen is believable.

Jim Belushi is very amusing as a "has been" action hero star turned boozer Karate instructor, so the next time you wake up in one of those "I don't want to do anything moods" It might be time to watch "Joe Somebody" It just might have the inspirational fluff you need! lol! The DVD transfer is very good and is a worthy purchase. You can find this for under $5.00.

THE KARATE KLUTZ
Added 5/29/2006

JOE SOMEBODY has a pretty clear message: being "somebody" is mainly being yourself, and star Tim Allen does a good job in bringing this message home. He plays Joe, a nice corporate visual aid consultant, who gets slapped around by a bully employee in front of his impressionistic daughter. He decides to take lessons from a has been karate movie star, and challenges the bully to a rematch. It's all cutesy stuff, but it benefits from Allen's on target performance and a nice supporting cast including Julie Bowen, Hayden Patteniere, Patrick Warburton and Jim Belushi as the karate instructor. It's ending is not predictable and that is refreshing in movies of this type. Fans of Allen will love it; you'll like it too.
