Forties heart-throb Stewart Granger and beauty Jean Simmons star in this delightful romance. Evelyne (Simmons) is an orphanage girl who receives letters from Adam Black, who she believes is her father. In fact her real father is a failing gambler who uses Black (Granger) to disguise his misfortune from her. Dying, he begs Black to care for his daughter, but when Evelyne moves in with Black and inspires jealousy in his girlfriend, matters become complicated.
