Belichick & Saban: The Art of Coaching is a documentary that spotlights the four-decade-long friendship between the two most powerful coaches in football history. The documentary offers an exclusive look at their annual coaching retreat, where Bill Belichick and Nick Saban have an in-depth conversation about their interwoven history and coaching philosophies. They discuss topics that haven’t been publicly shared before, including their fathers’ influences on their respective careers, their tenure with the Cleveland Browns in the 1990s and how they form bonds with the next generation of players. The film features numerous interviews from their peers, assistant coaches, family members, Hall of Fame tight end and former Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome, Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart, Patriots Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels and many more. Belichick and Saban met in 1982 in Annapolis, Md. where Saban served as the assistant coach alongside Bill’s father, Steve Belichick. In 1991, Belichick became the head coach of the Cleveland Browns and hired Saban to run his defense. Under their leadership, the Browns became one of the most formidable teams in the NFL. Belichick has since led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl victories, and his 292 career wins rank third all-time in NFL history. He built a powerhouse organization in Foxborough, which has resulted in 16 AFC East national championships and nine AFC Conference championships. Meanwhile, Saban has acquired six national championships and 232 career victories. He won five of those national titles after moving over to the Crimson Tide with a winning percentage of .874.
