Dirty Country introduces Larry Pierce, an ordinary family man with an extra-ordinary gift for dirty music and tells the unlikely story of how his songs were thrust out of obscurity and into the spotlight. Forced into early retirement at his auto parts factory, Larry faces an uncertain future. But salvation comes from an unlikely source. The film also profiles several living legends of the raunchy music business, including piano virtuoso Dr. Dirty, seminal funk singer Blowfly, and the original party band, Doug Clark's Hot Nuts. With commentary from leading authors, experts and social critics, the film poses the question: is America a nation of prudes or are we living in a dirty country? Dirty Country features the full, unrated director's cut, audio commentary with Larry Pierce and the film makers, interviews, extended concert footage, Larry's mother telling dirty jokes, and an instructional video how to play the game Washers. Directed by Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher (The Onion, Late Show With David Letterman, Found Footage Festival). Winner of the SXSW Film Festival's Audience Award (2007).
