This is a love story disguised as a fight film, based on the life of the greatest Latin Americanboxer, the undefeated Edwin "El Inca" Valero (actor Alexander Leterni in a "knock-out" performance). Hailing from the Venezuelan Andes, Valero was a charismatic but also tragic figure. His personal life starts to unravel even while achieving his greatest successes in the ring, as he falls prey to his demons. He strays from his devoted wife with another woman, gets trapped in drug addiction and his story reaches a climax that shocks the nation. Ironically, though the film was Venezuela's official selection to compete in this year's Foreign Language Oscar category, it has been as controversial as Edwin Valero's life; during a successful theatrical run, the Venezuelan government censored it and banned El Inca from the country's screens. Now North American audiences have a chance to see this award-winning movie for themselves, a Latin American Rocky meets Raging Bull!
