The nearly 16 year old Nana lives with her single mother and her two half siblings in a small village near the German and Swiss borders . Her family is far from perfect Nana more or less has to take care of her siblings Tatjana and Toto by herself, while their mother Roberta works as a hostess on a pleasure boat. Roberta, who has three children fathered by three different men, continues having reckless love affairs. Nana, in contrast, worries about her siblings and works daily at the local hydroelectric plant.
