An act of mercy turns a courageous couple into enemies of the state in Guns of Darkness, a high-voltage thriller starring David Niven and Leslie Caron.
In a swift and bloody coup, the military has overthrown the South American Republic of Tribulacion and ex-President Rivera (David Opatoshu) is shot and wounded while making his escape. While on the run, the politico stumbles onto a British-owned sugar plantation where Manager Tom Jordan (Niven) feels morally compelled to aid him.
Accompanied by his pregnant wife Claire (Caron), Jordan embarks with Rivera upon a hazardous trek across hostile terrain, past unfriendly peasants and heavily armed soldiers on a perilous flight to the border.
