Out-of-work Jack Warrender manages to bluff his way into the world of big business. Before he is discovered, he sets up a company to promote one of his hair-brained inventions. This results in the creation of a new shoe factory and Jack finds himself employed as the night watchman. While doing this he finds himself helping to catch a gang of arsonists in his usual, haphazard manner.
