The president, once a national hero and liberator of his country, is disempowered and has to flee to the wild mountainous region of his homeland, accompanied only by a handful of faithful followers. Hoping to find loyal supporters and regain power, they will cross snow-capped mountains and impassable passes, through deep forests and rushing streams - full of beauty and danger. Through the constant change of hiding places, the group tries to escape its opponents, but an invisible pursuer puts them under unwavering psychological pressure. The all-encompassing nature, her sanctuary, turns out to be an unpredictable force that can turn against her at any time. And not every remote home is inhabited by allied souls. The journey becomes a restless one - between trust and mistrust, between hope and doubt. Who else can the president trust? His dreams, evoking the past, begin to interweave with reality. Slowly, the target blurs in front of his eyes and the former head of state has to make a momentous decision. In dense streams of images and in the variable beat of departure and standstill, VOR DER SPRING tells a poetic story about the connections between power and its effects on people. Director George Ovashvili returns to DIE MAISINSEL with an allegorical journey into the depths of the human soul and into the beauty and grandeur of nature.
