Comedy legend Bob Hope stars in the deliciously funny tale of political pandemonium, Louisiana Purchase. Jim Taylor (Hope), a partner in the Louisiana Purchasing Company, becomes the target of a Senate investigation when he is framed by his associates who are bribing public officials. Chief investigator Senator Oliver P. Loganberry is diligent in his attempts to pin the graft on Taylor. However, Taylor's crooked compatriots convince him to frame the senator. While the story could be right out of the political news, the satire bites sharply, reaching its climax when Taylor stages a filibuster on the legislature floor with all the style and panache of a determined Washington insider. The enchanting songs by Irving Berlin include "Louisiana Purchase," "You're Lonely and I'm Lonely" and "It's a Lovely Day Tomorrow." Based on the hit Broadway musical, Louisiana Purchase is a fun and fierce look at the way politics, and politicians, sometimes spin out of control and into the headlines!
