Usually the entrants of the Dunmow marriage competition have a straightforward time in proving they are happy. Unfortunately for Basil and Julie, they are the exception. Not only are they battling with living at their parents’ house, but a young and rather attractive Hungarian maid arrives as a new employee of the household. She soon has all the menfolk of the village in a flutter, which doesn’t please the ladies. Trying to be happily married, then, would seem like an impossible task!
