HISTORY explores General William Tecumseh Sherman's brutal and effective Civil War campaign, which not only saved the Lincoln presidency, the Union, and thousands of lives, but also made Sherman one of the most hated and controversial figures in American History. In November 1864, Sherman and an army of 60,000 troops began their march from Atlanta to Savannah, and then up through the Carolinas, laying waste to virtually everything in his path, and crushing the South's will to fight. When it was all said and done, Sherman achieved his goal: to expedite the end of the American Civil War. Shot in hi-definition, and featuring cutting-edge CGI battle scenes, SHERMAN'S MARCH is both a lavish documentary and a gripping portrait of the complicated man who coined the phrase "War is Hell" and came to be called "the father of modern, total war."
