Byron lies dying in Greece and reminisces on the loves and losses of his tempestuous life. The film charts his affairs, starting with his scandalous liaison with the impetuous Caroline. He then journeys in and out of a marriage and on to a life as the lover of a Countess. Finally, having joined the struggle for Greek independence, he must be the judge of his own actions.
