This World War I film directed by Howard Hawks and starring Richard Barthelmess and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. tells the story of ace pilots Courtney (Barthelmess) and Scott (Fairbanks) dealing with the stress and sad realities of war.
As squadron pilots perish to German forces, Courtney is promoted to commander and his friendship with Scott soon sours.
This 1930 version of The Dawn Patrol won the Academy Award for its script and was remade in 1938 with Errol Flynn in the starring role.
