Laurence Olivier plays Logan, a divorce lawyer, stranded by fog in an already overcrowded hotel. A beautiful woman called Leslie (Merle Oberon), commandeers his bedroom, relegating him to the sofa, eating his breakfast and sneaking off leaving only a note: ‘Goodbye, Lady X’. She bumps into him later that day and overhears him make some disparaging remarks about women in a divorce case. So Leslie, ‘Lady X’, decides to teach him a lesson and sets him up to realise the error in his ways.
