It is World War II and a squadron of Belgian pilots are using a Flemish farm as a landing base. Matagne, one of the pilots, has been injured and is being cared for by Trescha, the farmer’s daughter. The two are very much in love, and when it is announced that Belgium must surrender to Germany, they are instructed to flee for England. A friend of Matagne’s is worried that he will not wish to leave his beloved so he knocks him out and carries him onto the plane. When they arrive in England, Matagne tells his friend that Trescha was actually his wife.
