A seaman, Frankie, is down on his luck when he meets a strange character named Bud. He persuades Frankie to tell him all his troubles, and then offers Frankie £1000 if he can earn £100 honestly in a month. He accepts the offer, getting himself a well-paid job as a bouncer for a gambling yacht. There he meets a beautiful chanteuse, Julie, who is the moll of the club owner. After throwing an important guest into the Thames, he is sacked, but his new-found confidence leads him to seek money from other jobs. His voice eventually becomes his fortune, but will Tony allow his girl to get away?
