THE LITTLE BEDROOM (La Petite Chambre) is the heartfelt story of Edmond, played by two-time Céasar Award winner Michel Bouquet (Le Promeneur du Champ de Mars, How I Killed My Father), star of last year’s Renoir, a man facing the loss of independence, and Rose, played by Céasar Award nominated Florence Loiret Caille (I Loved, Queen of Montreuil), the diligent and compassionate nurse assigned to his care, who is still reeling from the loss of her unborn child. When his son decides to move to Chicago, Edmond resists any attempt to convince him to move into a retirement home. Meanwhile, Rose’s husband Marc, played by Éric Caravaca (Son Frere), leaves for a New York business trip amidst his wife’s emotional crisis. One day, Rose arrives late for her visit with Edmond and discovers that he has taken a bad fall, forcing him to recover in a nursing home. Soon, she is put on leave due to her inattention and for ignoring standard protocol during her visits. Feeling responsible for Edmond’s injuries, she continues to visit him anyway. Finally able to get out of bed and determined to reclaim his autonomy, Edmond leaves the nursing home with Rose, but soon discovers at his apartment that his son has taken measures to keep him permanently at the nursing home. Empathetic to his situation, Rose decides to take Edmond into her own home allowing him to have a certain measure of freedom, while still allowing her to administer care. Through this new living situation, they learn more about each other and develop an unspoken kinship, which helps them move forward with their lives and embrace the future.
