Sir Charles Hare (Terence Morgan), a once-wealthy Irishman with a lot of debts and a taste for betting, gets the boot from his estate when he can no longer pay his bills. As he packs his bags, he meets and falls for the lovely Pat McGuire (Peggy Cummins), whose father is taking over the grounds. When Pat then fawns over a hapless foal, Charles sees an opportunity: He decides to hide his identity and instead pose as a groom, hoping to impress Pat by turning the animal into a prize racer.
