Sir Percy Blakeney seems to be every bit a foppish English gentleman. This is actually a cover to conceal his identity as the ‘Scarlet Pimpernel’, daring saviour of French aristocrats from the infamous guillotine. But due to his successes, a French political figure, Chauvelin, wants to unmask him. Pimpernel’s wife has also been ignorant of his double life, but when Chauvelin kidnaps her brother, she is drawn into a conspiracy which would like to see the Scarlet Pimpernel hanged.
