The film was directed by Darnell Martin and produced by Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions. Its teleplay was by Suzan-Lori Parks, Misan Sagay, and Bobby Smith, Jr. It starred Halle Berry and Michael Ealy, with other prominent actors.
