Inspector Johnnoe is one of Scotland Yard’s best detectives. Much of his success has been due to his network of informers. When the trend is for scientific methods, Johnnoe is told to break his contacts. This he does not do. Jim, his most reliable informer, is convinced he is onto a gang of important mobsters responsible for a spate of bank robberies. Jim is murdered, but before this happens he leaves Johnnoe a clue that points to the ring-leader. He attempts to enlist the help of Jim’s brother, who is bitter but plans an alternative form of revenge. As the two pursue their leads, they move closer and closer to a violent and bloody showdown.
