It’s an All-Female Finals for the first time in DWTS history as Kelly, Shawn and Melissa battle it out one last time for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy. The teams are tasked with doing one repeat favorite dance and one super-sized freestyle routine. Kelly & Valentin: This team kicks off the night with a hot, sexy, fast-moving paso doble. Len says this was Kelly’s best dance to date. Bruno says Kelly can always ignite drama, but he saw poetry in her dance tonight. Carrie Ann says her lines were exquisite. Scores of 9.5, 10 and 10 gives them a score of 29.5 for this first dance. The dance troupe joins Kelly and Val for their freestyle to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing. Len thought the actual dance was spellbinding even though it lacked originality. Bruno believes that the interpretation of the dance was superb and Patrick Swayze is smiling on them. Carrie Ann says they executed the dance beautifully and gave the crowd a happy ending. Scores of 10, 9.5 and 10 gives them a 29.5 for this second dance and a grand total of 59 for the night. Melissa & Tony: This team steps things up big time with a snappy samba to the tune “Conga.” Bruno says Melissa had a wonderful blend of moves and she’s truly grown as a performer. Carrie Ann agrees that her confidence led to a fabulous dance. Len says she had great technique and great rhythm in a fabulous dance. Scores of 10, 10 and 10 gives them a perfect 30 for this first dance. With dancers swinging high above them, Melissa and Tony dazzle with the lifts in their freestyle. Bruno says they picked the perfect setting to showcase all of Melissa’s talents in a gem of a dance. Carrie Ann says with great risk comes great rewards and they hit the jackpot. Len is almost speechless as he loved the passion of this wonderful dance. Trip 10s gives them their second perfecto of the night and a perfect grand total of 60. Shawn & Derek: This team has been pushing the envelope and breaking the rules all season. So why stop now with their rockin’ quickstep? Carrie Ann says the dance was a fan favorite but she’s sad that they didn’t follow the rules. She hopes it works out for them. Len agrees that by breaking the rules they left him nowhere to go with his critique. Bruno says that their scores are bound by the rules, but it can’t take away from the team’s crowd-pleasing achievements. Scores of 9, 8.5 and 9.5 gives them a total of 27 for this first dance. The “Fierce Five” members of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team join Shawn and Derek for their fabulous freestyle that has lifts, flips and some unbelievable dance moves. Carrie Ann says the dance was sensational and Shawn did not disappoint. Len said this was a medley for Derek and Shawn’s greatest hits in a gold medal performance. Bruno says it was the crowning glory of a fantastic night. Trip 10s gives them a perfect 30 for this dance and a grand total of 57 for the night.
