Dancing with the Stars: The Finals: Part 1

This is it! The Dancing with the Stars season 19 Finals have begun and it's down to just the final four couples! Each couple competed in two rounds of dancing. The first, the Judges' Pick, had them re-performing a routine from earlier in the season to see if they could improve their technique. The second round had the couples show their creativity with their Freestyle routines. But despite all of the celebrating going on, it would be the end of the road for one of the four finalists when one couple was eliminated at the end of the night. So who's moving on to night two of the Finals? Let's go to the scores! They scored a solid 32 out of 40 when they first performed the routine in Week 1, but they improved to a 36 this time despite some difficulties with the set. • Next up, Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas repeated their fan-favorite Samba from Week 4 because Len was out that week and wanted to see it live for himself. Last time they scored a 37 out of 40, and this time they hunted down a 38! • The third dance of the night belonged to Janel Parrish and Valentin Chmerkovskiy performing their Samba from Week 6. The first time around, they left some real room for improvement with 33 out of 40, but this time they rocked it with a 37. But during rehearsals, Janel's ribs were injured. • The final dance of the Judges' Pick round, Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson were hoping to top the leaderboard for the second time with their Jive from Week 1. They had a high bar to beat, scoring a 36 out of 40 in that first week, but they cleared it this time with a perfect 40! • With the Judges' Picks finished, it was time for the Freestyles, and first up was Bethany and Derek. They delivered a powerful, synchronized performance that had the judges raving and earned them a perfect score! • Keeping the Freestyles going, Sadie and Mark took on the personae of Princess Peach and Mario from Super Mario Bros. Those two certainly upped their game and found a warp pipe to a secret bonus level of OMG AWESOME! • Janel and Val were up next, and it remained to be seen how big of a factor her injury would be. Their performance was romantic and soulful with some stunning lifts that had the judges swooning. • For the final dance of the night, Alfonso and Witney took to the dance floor for their Freestyle. The routine was pure, toe-tapping fun in a fantastic mix of styles that the judges loved. • After a night of incredible dancing, it was time to say goodbye to one of the final four couples. Unfortunately, Bethany and Derek's journey had to come to an end.
