All 17-year-old Richie wants is to score a Homecoming date with the lovely Nina. Unfortunately, Nina cannot see past Richie's fun-guy humor and thinks he is "just good for laughs." In this episode of MADE, we watch as Richie attempts to undergo a complete head-to-toe transformation, turn himself into the ultimate chick magnet, and impress the girl of his dreams. On Day 1, Richie meets his MADE coach Samantha House. When he picks up the beautifully dressed woman on the side of the road in his parents' taxi, Richie has no idea she is the person who will be helping him to take control of his destiny. The two have a serious discussion about Richie's goals, and Samantha tells him that her expert coaching will help him improve his self-confidence, revamp his personal style, hone his dating skills, and--of course--help him to get in the best shape of his life. A self-proclaimed fast-food connoisseur, Richie needs all the help he can get, when it comes to his diet. That's where nutritionist Heather Macdonald comes in. On Day 2, Richie meets with her for the first time. After discovering Richie's body fat percentage is a whopping 40 percent, Heather gets extremely concerned for his health and recommends drastic changes for his diet. Not only does she encourage him to "cut everything in half," she also adds seaweed shakes to his daily diet! Yuck! Finally, Richie meets Jason Pelland, the personal trainer who is going to help him go from flab to fab. A trained gymnast, Jason knows a thing or two about shaping up, and he intends to do everything he can to help Richie--even if it means waking Richie up at the crack of dawn to hit the gym. In order to jumpstart Richie's transformation, his team sends him to a weight-loss camp for teens called Camp Shane. At Camp Shane, Richie makes a connection with another camper named Chrissy, and he experiences a lot of firsts with her. First relationship, kiss, and break-up, that is. Also, Richie loses eight pounds while at camp. After returning from Camp Shane, Richie and his MADE coach Samantha have a heart-to-heart discussion about Richie's personality. Samantha tells Richie she thinks he uses humor as a defense mechanism and starts "joking away" when he gets upset. Richie responds by saying his humor is just reflective of his old-school charm, and that he is misunderstood by most girls. With the help of Samantha, his nutritionist, and his trainer, Richie successfully sheds over 25 pounds and gains the confidence he needs to ask Nina to the Homecoming dance. On the first day of school, Richie is happy several of his classmates notice his weight loss. The most important one, however, is Nina--the object of his affections. When she saw Richie, she noticed how "his face was glowing." While on a romantic picnic, Richie pops the big question, and Nina agrees to go to the Homecoming dance with him. At the dance, the two have a great time dancing and hanging out together. Even though Nina does not seem too interested in the lovey-dovey thing with Richie, he is still happy the two shared a moment at the dance, and he is still proud of his MADE transformation.
