Joan Rivers embodied New York brassy, forward, honest, smart and very funny, defining the culture as she revolutionized the field. As the first documentary in Comedy Hall of Fame's initiative to bring arts programming for comedy to public television, this historical program covers Joan Rivers' journey, process, insights into the field and her impact on other comedians. Founded in 2004 with a mission to preserve legacies and educate the public about comedy’s power to communicate, CHF launched the Comedy Hall of Fame Archives in 2006, which has since grown into the world’s most comprehensive oral history of comedy. Featuring interviews with notable comedians including Sarah Silverman, Whitney Cummings, Kathy Griffin, Dick Cavett, Don Rickles, Lily Tomlin, and Marlo Thomas, JOAN RIVERS: EXIT LAUGHING celebrates Joan’s innovation and influence on the comedy scene while examining how comedy grows from one generation to the next
