After working as a missionary in Africa for ten years, Reverend Charles Fortescue returns to England and is tasked with setting up a mission in the London Docklands to rescue the local ladies of the night. Naive and ill-equipped for his task, Charles soon wanders from his path, falling prey to the women he was sent to save and an amorous church sponsor with a powerful husband.
